Frequent JLG365 contributor and JLG365 minion Ty Duggan offers up his Top 5 Season Premieres of 2009:

1) The Venture Bros., Season 4 Premiere – “Blood of the Father, Heart of Steel”.
Blood of the FatherAs if the Season 3 Finale was not mind blowing enough, the premiere runs like a Quentin Tarantino movie, where none of the story is linear and all the characters seem to have their own personal goals established. Even if they are absolutely ridiculous goals. The hype was certainly not overblown, it earned [adult swim] one of their highest ratings to date. Oh, and Hitler’s in it.

2) House, Season 6 Premiere- “Broken” (Parts 1 & 2 in a two hour event)
HouseSo Dr. Gregory House’s addiction to Vicodin finally lands him in the madhouse. Literally. His attempts to escape are almost as harrowing as his attempts to repair himself. We see House really grow, with no other regular cast characters interfering in the plot. It proved to be one of the most intriguing House episodes and helped to define the rest of the season. This is a benchmark for the House writers simply because it is a rare window view at our title character, a new perception as well as the same old House.

3) Breaking Bad, Season 2 Premiere – “Seven Forty-Seven”
Breaking BadIf anyone felt this show was dragging its feet or trying to hard to be the next “Weeds”, this premiere opened up a whole new box of W-T-F. After Walt (Cranston) discovers what a recluse Tucco can be, he and Jesse make it their personal mission to get out of their deal with the Mexican drug-lord… and some how come out on top. You will never see the ending coming.

4) Curb Your Enthusiasm, Season 7 Premiere – “Funkhouser’s Crazy Sister”
Funkhouser’s Crazy SisterIn what is probably the most hyped season of Curb since its early episodes, we see a broken (well, more than usual) Larry David, Post-Divorce, struggle with his misanthropic hate for society, but this time with a twist. It seems this season is a lead up to a makeshift ‘Seinfeld Premiere’. This episode however; has Larry trying to break it off with a girl before her biopsy results come back. HARSH. Meanwhile Jeff Garland runs into Marty Funkhousers very unstable sister, who goes by “Bam-Bam”. This episode was built for teeth-grinding awkwardness.

5) The Office, Season 6 Premiere – “Gossip”
The OfficeWithout a doubt one of the best American “Office” Premieres starts with Michael Scott being his usual dimwit-self, and spreading rumors to get in on office gossip. However, when the gossip turns from simple harmless banter to revealing-personal-disgraces, Pam and Jim are forced to try and jump in to save Stanley from a major embarrassment. Thankfully, Pam’s pregnant now, so that solves everything, right?
