(Mr. JLG365 did not write this, but both he and I could not agree more. It’s a response to the following video.- Jen)
“Most of the video is the basic stuff – we have a gay man, former military, saying that gay people should be allowed to serve.
We have the representative of yet another hate group that named themselves by ticking a few random words after the word “Family” – aptly named Peter Sprigg.
The arguments from the hate group are all the standard talking points:
-Gays will rape soldiers
-Gays will look at men. With their eyes. It will be terrible.
-No one will want to join an army full of rapists and people who look at people.
-Morale will be decreased.
The rebuttals are all the same:
-There are already gays in the military
-Professional soldiers don’t rape other soldiers
-Professional soldiers don’t look at other soldiers
-There’s no evidence that people will stop enlisting
-Strong opposition comes from right wing sources not independent polls
(An interesting point that’s not really worth bringing up is that male-on-male rape already occurs in the military. Furthermore, I will bet you a large amount of money that most of those rapists do not identify as gay.)
The very end is what’s really worthwhile. Matthews – god bless him – is not on the Family Power Movement’s side and calls out Sprigg: Should homosexuality be criminalized?
After some hemming and hawing, Matthews insists he stop dodging and answer. The Spriggster says that the supreme court’s decriminalization of homosexuality was a mistake and homosexuality should be illegal.
This is important. Anyone who thinks that opposition to repealing DADT, or movements opposed to gay marriage, are just about the military and the institution of marriage, and not part of a much larger agenda, are either ignorant of the broader picture or fucking retarded.
People talk about the gay agenda – I think some freeper quoted in the other thread is saying that this is just part of the larger gay agenda to institute gay marriage and partner benefits and so on. And you know what? He’s absolutely right. Of course it’s part of the gay agenda.
But no one ever talks openly about the flip side – the…homophobic agenda, let’s call it. Blocking the possibility of gay marriage and gay military service are just part of the larger agenda. These people are not content to deny gays marriage. They want to deny gays the right to teach in schools, and the right to openly – or privately – express their love. These people will not be satisfied until homosexuals are driven back in the closet, sent to be “converted”, or jailed.
The proposed Uganda law that would make homosexuality punishable by death and its association with American anti-gay groups is no accident. Don’t let yourself be convinced that these people accidentally stumbled into that situation and then it went out of control. They know what they’re doing.”
